  1. The taxpayer objects to the Property Appraiser's value assessment of the taxpayer's
    real or personal property.
  2. The taxpayer's application for any of the following exemptions or special use classifications
    is denied:
      ·homestead exemption
      ·any other tax exemption as provided by Chapter 196, Florida Statutes or
      ·any special use classification as provided by Chapter 193, Florida Statutes.
      ·any special use classification as provided by Chapter 12D-9, FAC and Chapter 12D-10.

PETITION DEADLINE: September 10, 2019

 

*All hearings for the 2019 Value Adjustment Board have been heard or set. Late filed petitions for 2019 will likely be denied at this time since granting them would cause a harmful delay in the performance and completion of the Value Adjustment Board's function in the taxing process* 

 

All petitions and filing fees for the 2019 tax season are due at the Value Adjustment Board by September 10, 2019

 

Instructions for Filing a Petition:

1.  If you are using Internet Explorer 10 or later, must turn on Compatibility View by clicking on the
     Compatibility View icon in the browser’s address bar.
2.  Select and complete the appropriate online petition for your needs and click submit. If appropriate
     fees are not paid by the deadline, the petition shall be deemed invalid and will be rejected. You are
     required to provide a valid e-mail address to submit a petition online.
3.  Once you have completed your petition, you will be emailed a petition number,
     transaction number and a password.
4.  Use your transaction number and password to access this site at any time to track the status of
     your petition and submit and review evidence.

*For taxpayers and agents interested in filing a joint petition for contiguous parcels or account numbers, you may only do so by submitting a signed and dated hard copy DR-486 petition form, with the Property Appraiser's contiguous parcel or account determination, in which the appropriate box for a "joint petition" is selected.*

Important Payment Information:

Please remember that your petition is NOT CONSIDERED FILED until the appropriate filing fee has been received by the VAB.  Checks and money orders are made out to Board of County Commissioners. The mailing address is 2300 Virginia Ave., Room 225, Fort Pierce, FL 34982.

The non-refundable petition filing fee is $15. However, you must submit a separate petition for each exemption requested.  For example, if you are filing a petition for Homestead Exemption and Widow Exemption, you would need to submit two separate petitions.
